I received my Bachelor of Fine Art in Art and Design from the University of Alberta in 2001. During my studies, I was able to attend the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury, England. My main area of focus at that time was in Printmaking. I moved toward painting as a focus after leaving University. In 2007, I received a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education. I split my time between working as an art teacher and creating my own art.
As an artist, I look closely at the details in the world around me. I am fascinated with texture, colour and patterns that I see in my surroundings. I am most inspired by organic elements in nature and objects showing the passage of time. Most of my inspiration comes from places I’ve visited during a camping adventure, travel or just walking through nature. I love layers, textures and an abundance of colour.
